Most of the times new bloggers get into the trap of some tools / sites, and end up wasting their time, which are nice to check occasionally though. These tools / sites do not only cause to distract the attention of bloggers but also work towards bringing down the morale of the bloggers. There are 5 examples which could be a waste of time, really for bloggers.

Site Traffic Analyzers

Tools providing an analysis on the traffic to your site, can sometimes prove to be waste of time. New bloggers, in hope of getting more visitors get into the trap and often waste their time analyzing the traffic to their site. I got 50 visitors last week, but this week the number dropped to 40, what happened to 10? These situations force the bloggers to dig more into the analysis tools and is nothing more than a waste of time. Think about this! What can a analysis tool do in case your traffic has dropped?? The reason at root of the traffic drop could be the content on your blog or your design or maybe you need to concentrate more on your promotion strategies!!

Alexa Rank

Alexa rank improves as the traffic improves on your site. Bloggers, at times, waste their invaluable time by just trying to see what has happened to their alexa ranking. A blogger could be wasting around 10 - 20 minutes daily trying to see the alexa graph(while alexa graph is only generated if the rank for the site is below 100,000) and trying to know what percentage of traffic is coming to their site from which country.

Link Exchange Sites

Often bloggers tend to sign up with some cheap link exchange sites and make requests for a link exchange with other high PR and high traffic sites. One thing is often overlooked by new bloggers! Why would high PR and high traffic sites link to you unless you have got a very good content and a good traffic to your site? Thus it is always a better strategy to build up on the content of your site and concentrate on other promotion strategies. People would come to you, if you are able to provide them with some good stuff.

Adsense Clicks

Last month, I got adsense clicks worth $4.5 but this month it has been only $2.30.. why has the adsense click revenue dropped. A newbie could be facing this question. And this question could force newbies to waste their time thinking about this revenue drop. However, such bloggers need to realize that it is unimportant to look at all at the adsense revenue unless you have atleast 500 visitors to your blog everyday.

Technorati Backlinks

I got two backlinks on technorati this month and my total count has gone to 25. This could be a situation that a newbie blogger might be facing and spending 30 - 35 minutes daily analyzing these numbers. Looking at technorati backlinks and authority is a good thing, but putting too much of time to analyze the backlinks and authority could prove a big waste of time and also may cause to distract your attention from your real objective i.e. working towards making a successful blog.

The above tools / sites, are not bad to analyze or look at since these may be providing you with some very good trends and directions. However, you should judiciously spend your time on these sites / tools so that you are not distracted from your objective of building your blog. It is important to remember that a successful blog cannot be built in a day or two. Rather consistent and honest efforts are needed over a period of time, for people to get attracted towards your work and start endorsing your views.
